This wool terry sock is made for fishing when the water is really cold. A natural feature of wool fiber is that it stays warm even when it becomes moist by condensation. By using terry eyes on the inside, it gives the sock a layer of insulation/ventilation of air between your feet and neoprene stump and the wading boot. It can be used as a single layer for itself, but also as an extra layer along with a thinner inner stocking.

Wearing hot socks inside your waders during fly fishing is important for several reasons. First, wading in cold water can quickly lower body temperature and warm socks act as a barrier to the cold. They provide insulation, prevent heat loss from your feet and ensure that you stay comfortable and safe in chilly aquatic environments. Secondly, hot socks help to maintain circulation. Cold water can pull the blood vessels together, which reduces blood flow to the feet. Wearing insulated socks improves circulation, which ensures that the feet get enough oxygen and nutrients, which is crucial for comfort and to prevent frost damage. Wearing hot socks inside waders contributes to the total body heat. Cold feet can lead to discomfort and distraction, which affects your ability to fully enjoy the fishing experience. By keeping your feet warm, you improve your total comfort and concentration while on the water.
